2013 overhaul

The Work Done
From St Martins, the bells were taken to the Foundry in London for tuning.
They were then taken to the Bellhangers works in Bridport for the remaining works to be completed before return to St Martins.

The total Cost of the Project is £38,000 of which a small amount remains to be raised.

Work Commences to remove the bells from the Belfry

January 8th 2013
Treble, 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th bells removed from belfry and are sitting in the Nave of St Martins awaiting the removal of the Tenor - See the Photo Gallery

 

January 9th 2013
Tenor removed from the belfry.
All bells are moved from St Martins and transported to the Whitechapel foundry in London, waved off by local schoolchildren and others

February 1st 2013
Work completed by the Whitechapel Foundry. The bells are now in the Nicholson Engineering works in Bridport for their engineering work on them

March 31st 2013 - Easter Sunday
Overhaul is complete - Bells rung for the first time in 3 months for Easter Day morning service - but we still need to raise the remaining balance

Grant from Bath and Wells DACR Bell Fund of £4,150 for rehanging in new fittings and retune to the fourth.

Week Commencing September 16th 2013
Work on sound control commences

Saturday November 2nd 2013
Open Day. See the bells, have a go, Teas, Coffees and displays.

Sunday November 3rd 2013
The bells are dedicated at 4.00pm by the Archdeacon of Bath.
